On 1 January 2020, Boels Zanders Advocaten will welcome three new partners: Janou Briaire, Nicole Niessen, and Thom Beukers. Their arrival and the retirement of Herm Lamers will bring the number of partners at the firm to 23.
Janou Briaire joined Boels Zanders in 2006. She is the senior member of the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions team, with extensive experience in corporate acquisitions, shareholder relations, joint ventures, and corporate law issues. Janou’s clients include Dutch and foreign companies, family businesses, private equity investors, and management teams. She is also responsible for development of the firm’s international services and team leader of ADVOC’s Global Practice Group.
Nicole Niessen specialises in education law and has been associated with Boels Zanders since 2007. She is the leader of the firm’s Education team and also a member of the Administrative Law team. Among other things, Nicole advises on inclusive education, admission and removal, examination and certification, privacy, governance, forms of cooperation, employee representation, and funding issues. She works for educational institutions from primary through to higher education, and also deals with juvenile care and childcare.
Thom Beukers joined Boels Zanders in 2008. He directs the Litigation & Liability team and heads the firm’s Eindhoven office. Thom specialises in liability law, insurance law, and civil litigation. He litigates for Dutch and international clients on liability issues, and has a special focus on contractual liability, professional and corporate liability, and claims for damages. Due to his expertise and experience, Thom was approached in 2017 by the Court of Appeal (‘s‑Hertogenbosch), the District Court (Limburg), and the Netherlands Bar to provide input for the new procedural legislation (the “Quality and Innovation Programme”).
