Michiel Peeters specialises in company law. He is a member of both the Corporate Advisory and the Insolvency and Restructuring teams.

Michiel advises and litigates on various issues in the field of corporate law and corporate governance. He works for medium-sized and large private and public limited companies, investors, public and semi-public institutions and local authorities. Michiel has specific knowledge of and experience with the education, healthcare and housing corporation sectors.

Michiel assists clients in setting up group structures, defining group relationships and entering into partnerships and investments. He ensures that the responsibilities and powers of the various bodies within a company are properly defined and supports clients in drafting articles of association, board and supervisory board regulations and shareholder or participation agreements. He also supervises complex decision-making processes within the company or institution. Michiel also supports you in preventing and during disputes.

In addition to corporate law, Michiel has extensive knowledge and experience in the field of insolvency law. Michiel works regularly as a court-appointed bankruptcy trustee. This knowledge and experience makes him an ideal partner for approaching the other side. Michiel also regularly assists companies in difficulty. He oversees restructuring, relaunch, and extrajudicial reorganisation procedures.

He also assists clients with structured financing, cancellation of credit, and foreclosing on security. Michiel litigates extensively on matters including directors’ liability, actio pauliana, tort, and financing and security, on both sides of bankruptcy cases.

Michiel has been working as an attorney for Boels Zanders since 2007. He has a master in Private Law from Maastricht University, where he studied Dutch Law. In 2014, Michiel completed the Grotius specialisation course in Insolvency Law (cum laude). In 2017, Michiel completed the Insolad/EUR specialisation course in Financial Economics for Insolvency Attorneys and in 2020 the Magna Charta specialisation course in Corporate Law.

Michiel is a member of Insolad, the Dutch Professional Association for Insolvency Attorneys. He is also the treasurer of Lions Club Ambt Born and a member of Young Management.
