Ruben is an experienced lawyer with knowledge and experience within the broad field of Commercial Law. He likes to focus on the Identity and Reputation of companies, their business and the people associated with them. He has the required experience in advising and litigating on Dutch and international trade agreements (including sale, purchase, distribution and agency), he has been involved in issues and disputes in the field of intellectual property (including copyright and trademark law), IT (software and Service Level) agreements and the admissibility of advertising, slavish imitation, know-how protection, entertainment and wrongful publications. Having worked as a Data Protection Officer within a company for a year, he also has the required experience in giving advice on implementing and dealing with the obligations in the context of privacy legislation.
Ruben studied at Maastricht University and the Universidad de Salamanca (Spain). After having worked for a short period at a trademark agency in Amsterdam, he started working as a lawyer in 2001. After having gained experience at 2 renowned law firms in South Limburg, he spent a year in the business community in 2019 working as a corporate lawyer and Data Protection Officer. In 2020, he returned to the legal profession at Boels Zanders Advocaten.
Ruben is a member of the teams Dutch and international commercial contracts, liability law and Intellectual property, ICT law, privacy, and advertising. He is also part of the sector group privacy.
Ruben is a member of the Copyright Association and the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI).
